Sound Design and Sound Observations
I felt like I was really taken out of my comfort zone for the sound design part of the project. I feel very confident about my video editing skills in Premiere but before this project I didn't mess around with sound very much. I enjoy the immediate visual feedback most likely because I am a visual learner. This part of the assignment made me appreciate the almost endless opportunities in the sound world.
This past weekend I decided to go on a walk early in the morning. Since the weather is beginning to get colder while the earth still remains warm, I got to experience this wonderful morning dew. When I was driving down the gravel road, the morning rays gleamed through the tree leaves from above. I got out of my car to admire the beams of light and found out that I could only see them from that specific angle. The light was warm and hard in some places but soft in others. If I was a religious person, I would imagine this was God saying good morning.
One form of light that I find particularly interesting is fire. I used to like to play with fire as a kid burning ants and such.. I was weird, it never failed to captivate me. The bonfire I had this weekend successfully satisfied my craving for a bit of fire action. Its reds, oranges, yellows, lit the surrounding area with a saturation of warm tones. There were even blues and greens down by the coals where the heat was more concentrated. The colors set a nice fall mood. Fire is special because it's a form of light that seemingly dances.
